*Why Do I need a Board Certified Surgeon?

Rashmi Roy, M.D. DrRoy-silhouetted1

Dr. Rashmi Roy was born and raised on Long Island, New York. She attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD where she graduated with honors in 2001. Dr. Roy returned to New York where she received her Doctorate from New York Medical College in 2005 and completed her General Surgery Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia University. During her internship year, she received the commendation of “Intern of the Year” and subsequently “Junior Resident of the Year.”

During her residency, Dr. Roy became interested in endocrine surgery and became very involved with clinical research in thyroid cancer and adrenal tumors. After completing her general surgical residency, she returned to The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for a one-year fellowship in endocrine surgery. Dr. Roy published her ongoing research in surgical journals, presented her work at national meetings, and authored several chapters in the field.

Dr. Roy’s interests and expertise are in the patho-physiology and surgical techniques encompassing the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands. Her extensive training at Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University has provided her with advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive skills to perform these delicate surgeries. Dr. Roy is a member of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES) as well as the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE). Dr. Roy joined Princeton Surgical Associates in 2011.
